Shank-Type Milling Cutter

Product Description

The shank is the cylindrical (non-fluted) part of the tool which is used to hold and locate it in the tool holder. A shank may be perfectly round, and held by friction, or it may have a Weldon Flat, where a set screw, also known as a grub screw, makes contact for increased torque without the tool slipping.

Solid cutter consists of teeth integral with the cutter body, in tipped cutter, teeth are made of cemented carbide or satellite, teeth are brazed to steel cutter body called shank.

Milling machines produce mainly flat surfaces by means of a rotating cutter with multiple cutting edges. The two main types of machine are the horizontal and the vertical spindle. Milling cutters usually have teeth cut on the periphery and/or on the end of a disk or cylinder.
