The H8301 Boring Bar allows you to thread internally right up to a shoulder or blind hole when a tap is not available. Right hand threads are generated from the inside to the outside while left hand threads start from the outside and cut in with the spindle in reverse. Not for use on lathes with threaded spindles.
There are three general types of boring bars: high speed steel, brazed carbide, and indexable carbide.
The boring bar has a main body that attaches to and is rotated by the machine tool's milling sleeve. A precision mechanism moves back and forth within the main body, actuated by the linear movement of the machine tool boring spindle.
